| Hello of course as you can tell my name is Wes Claybourne, and I am a relative new writer. I joined the group of authors here at T.K. Waltz Publications to help enhance my wrting potential and have been saddled( no pun intended) with a new project. I am currently writing a book about the cattle trade of the old southwest. The story takes place near Victoria Texas, where Jason Barlow comes home to find his old childhood sweetheart who, while in his absence, has taken up with a very bad crowd. She is about to marry a questionable character. Jason's father was killed on the open range when he was quite young and he has never stopped looking for the person responsible for it. Join Jason and his brother Mose as they gather their herd off of the open range planning to drive them to Montana to the Musselshell River where they will set up ranching. Meet the real life Character of Shanghai Pierce, one of the rags to riches stories of the old west. Come along on the long cattle drive and learn about the hardships they endured, dangers, and at times fun on the way to Montana. I can't tell you more without letting the proverbial cat out of the bag. So buy the book and have fun with it. The next project after this one is complete, is to tell the tale of John Nathan Hittson, known throughout the west as Cattle Jack. Hittson was a real life cattle rancher who invaded New Mexico with the blessing of the government to ferret out Commencheros holding stolen Texas cattle. Hittson was a hard nosed character who started his business on the edge of nowhere in Texas fighting off rustlers, Indians and outlaws. He became a frontier sheriff, and helped find Cynthia Ann Parker who had been whisked away from her family and sold throughout the Indian Nations. Read about Cattle Jacks triumphant ride down the main street of Denver leading his cattle with his signature "Yellow Boy Rifle" across his saddle, daring anyone to complain. Hittson ultimately became one of the richest cattle men in the west having several ranches in at least three states. He died at a young age in a wagon accident in Colorado.
