Andru Hunter
Welcome
Hello my name is Andru Hunter. I love writing about the
old west. I was inspired mainly by Louis L'Amour, I believe
I have read most of his books and some many times. At a
late age in life I found myself bored with the standard fare
for western books on the shelf, therefore I decided to write
them for myself  well, that is what has brought me here. I
hope you like my page. If you are a history buff go to our
research links page and take a tour on line of all the things
Wes Claybourne and I have read in preparation of our
books. We like to tell it like it was and not the spin that
hollywood puts on things. You will find I hope that my
books are refreshing as well as entertaining and educational.
Just like Louis L'Amour if there is a bend in a road or a
butte in the distance and I have put it in the book go look
for yourself it is there. Below you will find a quote
attributed to Louis L'Amour. I have found this to be very
true. Continue on down the page for things I am working on
etc.

Thanks for reading my stories and thanks for visiting our
site I hope you will enjoy what we have put forth for you.
Andru

One day I was speeding along at the typewriter, and my
daughter - who was a child at the time - asked me, "Daddy,
why are you writing so fast?" And I replied, "Because I
want to see how the story turns out!"

. . . Louis L'Amour

started. Thanks!

My first book, entitiled "The SouthernPlainsman," took
about two years to compile and write. Believe it or not I
deleted 20,000 words at one point and rewrote an all new
segment back in.  My goal was to write a story about a
certian particular family, the Ross family.
I arrived at this story while researching a family member
who fought in the civil war. I found the mustering out ticket
for him and it was signed by him. But I realized he did not
show up on the following census. I pondered what could
have happened to him. He could have died from disease or
from an accident. He could have also died of just natural
causes or from wounds sustained in the war. But my favorite
idea was that he came home and just decided this was not
home any more. Like many men in the war he had fought
hard and seen many atrocities in his time. He was not ready
to settle down into the hum drum life of farming or working
in a store. He was young and probably full of wonder at
what was in the rest of the world. So Hence T.K. Ross was
born. Moving west he settled in being struck by the plains of
Kansas. My idea is to write many books of the Ross family
as it moves through history. There lives, loves, successes,
failures, sorrow and joy of each generation. The amount of
books leading up to a final story of today is not yet
determined. This would be the Ross Family Saga, in which
there will be several Epochs. The first involving the
beginning of the Ross Family as it is told would be the T.K.
Ross Chronicles. The second book, "Lobay," deals with the
bond between T.K. and Pete Lomax. The third book deals
with T.K. himself and his ultimate marriage that shakes the
community of Newton to its core. I have been asked by our
editor to write a prequel to the series which will deal with
T.K. as he leaves the Civil War and comes west to drive
stage, work building the railroads, and scouting for the army
up and down the Santa Fe Trail. This book will probably be
out in the fall of 2008. The next book, in the series will be,
"Lobay," coming late in the fall of 2009. The fourth book,
"Catalyst," is scheduled to come out the fall of 2010.

Should you have comments or questions I will try and
correspond as best I can but at times the E-Mail is too thick
to get through it all. I love comments on the books criticism
as well as any accolades you may have. You can always find
